The tenth-highest of the fourteen eight-thousanders, Mount Annapurna, is 8091 metres above sea level. The Annapurna-I summit, located in the Annapurna Conservation Area in north-central Nepal, is the highest point in the Annapurna range. Despite being the first eight thousand metre peak to be scaled, Annapurna is among the least climbed eight thousand metre summits due to its difficult climbing path and avalanche danger. Maurice Herzog, a member of the French expedition team, made the first ascent of Annapurna through the north face in 1950.
Despite being the most perilous mountain to climb, Annapurna has the highest fatality-to-summit ratio (1:3.1 or 32%) of any other eight-thousander. According to official records, the Mt. Annapurna I expedition has the highest mortality toll of all eight thousand mountains, making it the world's most deadly peak. In comparison to Mt. Everest, there were only 166 successful climbers up until 2009, or about half the amount during a single spring season. There are therefore not many commercial expedition planners.
Facts: Numerous climbers lost their lives as a result of persistent avalanches and heavy precipitation. After the summit, there used to be a 41% mortality rate, but that number is steadily declining. The ideal time to view Annapurna-I is in March.

Kevin Horan, NepalI spent very memorable days in the Everest region in Nepal. I used to dream to see this highest peak of the world and now I arrested it in my camera. My guide arranged everything and helped me a lot. He did not let me feel tired and boring.
