Everest base camp trek with Island Peak via Gokyo lake, 2 passes:- 

Embark on a wonderful adventure with Island Peak trekking and climbing that takes you into the heartland of the Khumbu Valley and Everest Base Camp (5,357m/17,575ft). Island Peak (6,189m/20,305ft) is one of the main climbing peaks in the Everest Region with an impressive and highly glaciated West Face that rises from the Lhotse Glacier. The Island peak climbing itinerary has been designed very professionally by taking care of proper and gradual acclimatization at suitable intervals. Before scaling the peak, we also take you to possibly the most popular trekking destination in the world - Everest Base Camp and Kala Patthar - for the close-up views of Mt. Everest and other high mountains. The journey begins from and comes to conclusion at one of the most famous airstrips in the world, the Lukla Airport in the Everest Region.

Day-01: Step on Kathmandu(1,350M./4,429FT.)

From 1st step off to the land of Nepal, Completing our mandatory custom Formalities -Tribhuwan International Airport, Kathmandu. Himalayan Traverse representative excited full of joy for you at the gate who will lead us to Hotel.  Rest of the day taking rest to get recharged after the tiredness of the long flight.

Day-02: UNESCO WORLD HERITAGE SIGHTSEEING(1,350M./4,429FT.)

4-landmarks, 3 UNESCO World Heritage Sites Visit with a Professional Licensed Person helping you know Kathmandu even deep historically. (Swayambhunath, Bauddhanath)- Stupa, Pashupatinath Temple, and Kathmandu Durbar Square. With the knowledge gained we make you actually feel welcomed the Night as a part of a family with a warm Nepalese cuisine at a welcome dinner hosted by Himalayan Traverse after knowing the team and getting to know our guides in person.

Day-03: Lukla (2,860 m/9,383 ft.) Flight: 45 min & Phakding Trek (2,651m/8,700ft): 3-4 hrs walk

A short scenic mountain-flight one of the best takes us to Lukla. Everest Base Camp journey starts with landing at Tenzing Hillary Airport gateway of Mountains. We start our hiking to Phakding, passing by Cheplung Village for the view of yet not ascended Khumbila(5760m). Overnight at Phakding.

Day-04: Namche Bazaar (3,438m/11,280 ft.)Trek: 5-6 hrs walk

Start our hike With Dudhkoshi river by, entrance to Sagarmatha National park.  Reach Namche Bazaar being through pine forest north up the valley of Benkar which is also known as the “Gateway to Mount Everest”. View of Mount Everest and Mount Lhotse. Overnight at Namche Bazaar.

Day-05: Namche Bazaar Acclimatization

An acclimatization day. We can do activities as per your wish as it's the rest day at the main center of the region with markets & services to the possible extent. A short hike to Khumjung or Everest View Hotel and enjoying the view of the mighty Himalayas should do for the day. Experience the Sherpa culture and learn about mountaineering history by making a short visit to Sherpa Museum and Khumjung School nearby. Overnight at Namche Bazaar.

Day 06Namche Bazaar to Dole

After a sumptuous breakfast, we begin our trek to Dole with gradual ups and downs. The trail is scenic and keeps getting more and more amazing as we proceed ahead. On the way, we are likely to spot Himalayan pheasants, musk deer, and Himalayan Tahrs. Descending a little bit through the alpine and rhododendron forest, we reach the village of Kyanjuma, where we stop for a short break. Moving further ahead, we reach Sansa from where we will follow the Gokyo trails, which is a bit rough and lies just above the Dudh Koshi river’s gorge. From Mong La Pass, we get a glimpse of Mt. Ama Dablam, Mt. Thamserku, Mt. Tawoche, and Mt. Khumbila. From the pass, the trail descends to Dudh Koshi Khola after which it is an uphill climb up to Phortse. We get magnificent views of the mountains from this point. After hiking for a couple of hours through lush forest and green pastures, we will reach Dole from where we get to watch the mesmerizing sunset views. Overnight in Dole.

Day 07Dole to Machherma

Trek from Dole begins with a fairly tricky descent on a slippery, snow-covered slope. Then, we begin to climb on a steady trail through a scenic ridge with views of Mt. Cho Oyu, Mt. Kantega, and Mt. Thamserku. The uphill walk comprises of increasingly barren hillside, covered in tundra grasses and dotted with scrub junipers. We cross a small settlement of Lhafarma, and then Luza village, tucked into a side valley. Ascending from Luza, we walk over the Dudh Koshi River and continue walking through sandy trails before reaching Machhermo, the last major settlement before Gokyo. We can visit the Himalayan Rescue Hospital to learn a lot related to altitude sickness. Overnight in Machhermo.

Day 08Machherma to Gokyo

Today, we leave the foothills and ascend on a hill gradually entering the desolate tundra of the high mountains, enjoying views of the Dudh Koshi valley and Mt. Kangtega, Mt. Thamserku and Mt. Cho-Oyu. Beyond the ridge, the valley widens as the trail passes through a Chorten and we reach Phangga. We descend to the river bank before climbing up to the terminal moraine of the Ngozumpa Glacier on a steep trail. We pass through Longpongo, Raboche Tsho and Dudh Pokhari before reaching Gokyo. On the trail next to the first lake, we see what is believed to be the footprints of a Lama (Buddhist priest). We explore Dudh Pokhari before calling it a night. Overnight in Gokyo.

Day 09: Gokyo Valley Acclimatization

Today is the second acclimatization day of our trek which we will be doing in Gokyo as it is a wonderful and perfect place to acclimatize for our further trip too. As for today, we can hike to the fourth and fifth lake in Gokyo valley. The fifth lake is more popular among trekkers as it provides wonderful views of the slopes of Mount Everest too. After the hike of nearly 5 hours we overnight later in Gokyo Valley again.

Day 10: Thagnak (4750 m/15,580 ft.): 4-5 hrs walk

Early in the morning today we start our hike to Gokyo Ri, as it provides a magnificent view of the sunrise above the Himalayas. The highest mountain, Everest with all other neighboring mountains can be seen perfectly from Gokyo Ri. After spending some time in Gokyo Ri, we then head for Thagnak, our next stop for today. Overnight at Thagnak.

Day 11: Trek to to Dzongla (15, 939 ft.) via Cho La pass (5,367m/17,604 ft.): 7-8 hrs walk

So, today will be a little tough day for us as we need to get to Chola pass through vertical and steep glacier traverse, which will be our second pass in the trek. As the route may be a little -Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner slipper we must be cautious and alert. As we reach Chola pass we can again have the amaziong view of Himalayas from there and from Chola pass is comfortable way to Dzongla, our next stop. Overnight at Dzongla.

Day 12: Dzongla to Everest Base Camp (5364m/17,594ft) and back to Gorak Shep (5170 m/16,961ft): 6-7 hours

Our hike to Goraksherp is going to be an interesting one as well, as we can have the amazing views of the high mountain Mount Nuptse and Pumori by our side. We can also see Kala Patthar which is going to be our next destination for tomorrow. We take the trail to Everest Base Camp through the once vast Gorak Shep Lake. Continuing straight ahead, we come across the Indian army mountaineers' memorials. The path from here can be misleading; hence it is important that we follow our lead Sherpa diligently. The walk is strenuous due to thin air in the high altitude. We pass through rocky dunes, moraine and streams before reaching the Everest Base Camp. Upon reaching the Everest Base Camp, we see tents of mountaineers that stand out in bright colors against the monotony of gray surroundings (especially in the spring). Nuptse, Khumbuste and Pumori are the mountains we can view from the base camp. We get back to Gorak Shep for a good night's rest. Overnight in Gorak Shep.

Day 13: Trek to Kalapatthar (5,545 m/18,192 ft.) to Lobuche (5545 m/18,192 ft): 8-9 hrs walk

Today we make our way to Lobuche via Kalapatthar. As Kalapatthar provides an amazing view of sunrise with the panoramic view of the Himalayan Range, we head out early in the morning. We will then be spending some of our time on the top of the Kalapatthar for photography and enjoying the amazing view. After that we head for Lobuche, our next stop. Overnight at Lobuche.

Day 14: Chukkung (4750m/15,580 ft.) via Kongma La pass (5535m/18,159ft): 6-7 hrs walk

.Today is going be an interesting and important day as well, as we are going to cross the highest pass for the trek, Kongma La pass. So, our today’s hike will be a bit challenging too. We make our way through the Khumbu Glacier and climb uphill to cross the Kongma La pass. After the successful pass we descend to our next stop, Chukkung where we will be spending our night.

Day 15: Chhukung to Island Peak Base camp (5,200m/17,060ft): 3-4 hours

The trek to Island Peak Base Camp is on a fairly steep trail. First, we climb south then turn east to the main line of the valley. We then walk on a winding path below the southern flank of the moraine from the Lhotse Glacier. Next, we continue walking on a pleasant trail along a streamside. The route to the Amphu Labtsa lies to the southeast. A crisscross route through the Imja and Lhotse glacier moraines leads to a wide valley flanking the SW side of Island Peak. Members can have the training here on the same day.

Day 16:  Reserve day (Contingency Day)

This day will be used in case needed due to weather condition, flight delays or any other reasons occurred in the program.


Day 17: Island Peak base camp to Island Peak summit (6,189m/20206ft), back to base camp: 10-11 hours

We move after breakfast slowly after all the preparation to high camp being through steppe way and ascending with the challenge of altitude and with the view of aphu labtsa view, island peak glacier etc finally we reach to high camp.

Overnight at Base Camp. (Tent)

Day 18: Island Peak Base Camp to Dingboche (3,985m/13,074ft) 5-6 hours

We move after early morning breakfast all preparation we descend to chukung and we drop all the hired things and we lunch at Chukung and then we make our way to Dingboche being through the beautiful scenarios.  Overnight in Dingboche.

Descend Namche Bazaar crossing the rhododendron forests. With the natural beauty of the place and watching the smiley faces of Sherpa locals, we make our way down to Namche Bazaar. Overnight at Namche Bazaar.

Lukla today, making our way through the Sherpa villages. Rest at places like Phakding and after 1-2 hours, if needy, we reach Lukla for the flight back to Kathmandu early in the morning tomorrow. Overnight at Lukla.
