“Because in the end, you won’t remember the time you spent working in the office or mowing your lawn. Climb that goddamn mountain.” -Jack Kerouac
Standing high along with the Himalayas in the Khumbu region of eastern Nepal, Mount Baruntse is a quite popular mountain for expedition. The mountain lies very near to the Everest range, and is 7,162 meters high. Accessing the mountain is usually done from the South, where climbers can ascend Mera Peak to acclimatize before moving up the valley to Baruntse base camp. The mountain was first climbed via the south ridge on May 30,1954 by Colin Todd and Geoff Harrow from New Zealand with the expedition team led by Sir Edmund Hillary.
Mount Baruntse is crowned by fours peaks and bounded on the south by the Hunku Glacier, on the east by the Barun Glacier, and on the northwest by the Imja Glacier. Mount Baruntse expedition is not quite technical, but a highly physically demanding mountain in the remote part of Everest region in Nepal. Lush forests, small glacier rivers, and grassy hills are the major highlights for the route. The peak stands gorgeously and is surrounded by some of the world's highest mountains - Everest, Lhotse and Makalu to the north and Makalu on the other side.
Shrinking population make these lands seem as unexplored places. The settlement of Sherpa people is found in major places only because of it’s remoteness. Buddhists monasteries, cultural and traditional lifestyle of people are only found specially in Lukla. After Lukla, our route takes us to the lesser populated and remote landscapes.
Although it may seem quite remote, Baruntse expedition takes us to amazing places like glacier lake right beside our camps in base camp, and beautiful scenery. We can photograph the exquisite view of the highest neighboring Himalayas including Everest and we make attempt to make it to the top of 7000 meters. We, the Himalayan Traverse Adventure have designed this amazing expedition package for the mountaineers who would love to make it to the top of 7000 meters in challenging mountains and gain much experience.
