Trip Introduction:
Pikey Peak trail is the newly opened trekking route in lower Khumbu region, combination of Chyabe east to west which offers dramatic exploration of Everest. The trail follows the less crowded area from Jiri, Chaulakharka, Ngaur till reach to Pikey hill. From the Pikey peak, one can see the various spectacular mountains over 8,000 meters including Everest, Kanchenjunga, Makalu, Lhotse, Manaslu, Annapurna and many other snow-covered peaks. The peak is popular for its breathtaking sunrise and sunset views and one can take pleasure in the magnificent sight of the peaks beyond the Kathmandu valley to the plains along with lots of Himalayan range.
The Pikey peak trail trek in Nepal with Himalayan Traverse Adventure Pvt. Ltd. heads through Everest and Khumbu region trail which is one of the lower places to see Mt. Everest 8,848m. While making your memorable holiday, the adventurous pikey peak trail follows rhododendron forests, highly culture influenced villages, mountain glaciers, splendid uphill and downhill trails with the combination of Himalayan scenery.

December 26th: Day 01: Arrive at Kathmandu [1345m/4411ft] and transfer to hotel.
Our airport arrival our representative From Himalayan Traverse Adventure will be at Tribhuvan International Airport on your arrival schedule. You will be transferred to hotel and our staff will help you until check-in procedure ends at Hotel. You can have a rest at the Hotel. Overnight in Kathmandu.

December 27th: Day 02: Kathmandu: Sightseeing and trek Preparation
Today after breakfast we start a guided tour to several of the most historical and spiritual attractions in Kathmandu which are also listed as UNESCO World Heritage sites. We visit the historic Durbar Square, the sacred Hindu temple of Pashupatinath, the famous 'Monkey Temple' (Swayambhunath) and Buddhist shrine (Bouddhanath), which is also one of the largest stupas in the world. At noon, we get our equipment checked by our climbing leader, get introduced to ellow participants, and discuss our trip. In the evening, there will be a welcome dinner hosted by Himalayan Traverse. For dinner, you will be served authentic Nepalese cuisine which will introduce you to the country’s food culture. Overnight in Kathmandu.

December 28th: Day 03: Fly from Kathmandu to Phaplu [2470m/8101ft] & Trek to Salleri [2390m/7839ft] [2-3 hrs Trek]
From Kathmandu, we will take a flight to Phaplu which takes approximately around 35 minutes. After landing at Phaplu we will start our trek to Salleri where we can wander around the busy local market and make visits to fascinating monasteries such as Chewang Monastery. Overnight in Salleri.

December 29th: Day 04: Trek from Salleri to Ghunsa [2250m/7380ft] via Dorpu [5-6 hrs Trek]
Leaving Salleri we will follow the trail that passes through several cultural and traditional villages inhabited by Tamang, Magar and Sherpa tribe communities of Nepal. During the trek we will have good views of surrounding mountains and beautiful landscapes. We will continue our trekking until we arrive at Ghunsa. Overnight in Ghunsa.

December 30th: Day 05: Trek from Ghunsa to Pattale [2840m/9315ft] via Kerung [7-8 hrs Trek]
Today we will trek on a moderate trail that passes through several monasteries and beautifully painted mani walls. At Kerung we will make visit to some of the ancient monasteries and take a look at the Buddhist stupa. Along our trekking route we will get chance to interact with local peoples mainly with Tamang, Magar and Sherpa community backgrounds. We will trek until we arrive at Pattale. Overnight in Pattale.

December 31st: Day 06: Trek from Pattale to Jhapre [2820m/9249ft] [5-6 hrs Trek]
From Pattale we will trek exploring the rich flora and fauna of the region. The area is rich with wild orchids offering trekkers an awesome feeling for trekkers while trekking. Our further trekking passes through additional monasteries and Buddhist stupas. After arriving at Jhapre, we will spend some time watching the traditional and cultural local performance in Jhapre which is definately one of the best ways to understand the culture of the region. Overnight in Jhapre.

(New Year’s Day)January 01st: Day 07: Trek from Jhapre to Pikey peak [4,800m/15,750ft] [5-6 hrs Trek]
Leaving Jhapre we will follow the trail that heads higher up into the alpine vegatation. Gradually ascending we will trek through monasteries dating bak to hundreds of years, Buddhist stupas and mani walls. We will continue to trek through several yak herding open fields with good views of surrounding environment. Overnight in Jhapre.

January 02nd: Day 08: Trek from Pikey peak to Junbesi [2700m/8856ft] [4-5 hrs Trek]
Pikey peak base camp is one of the best spots to witness the morning sunrise view. We will wake up early for the magnificent sunrise view over Himalayan Ranges from Kanchenjunga to Dhaulagiri as well as Mount Everest. After spending a quality time in the morning, we will follow the trail that is an easy downhill trekking through the scenic landscapes and scattered settlements to arrive at Junbesi.

January 03rd: Day 09: Trek from Junbesi to Thuptenchholing [ 3100m/10168ft] and Trek back to Junbesi [3-4 hrs Trek]
From Junbesi we will make an uphill climb towards Thuptenchholing where we will visit Thuptenchholing monastery and observe the traditional Tibetan medicinal therapy. From the top we can enjoy the whole Junbesi valley down below. After spending few hours at Thuptenchholing we will head back to Junbesi. We can also observe the Sherpa cultural dance performance on request at Junbesi.

January 04th: Day 10: Trek from Junbesi to Phaplu [2470m/8101ft] [5-6 hrs Trek]
From Junbesi we will start our trek follow the trail that is an easy downhill walking. This is the last day of our trek, therefore we will take it easy and try to enjoy every bit of our trek. At Phaplu we will celebrate the end of our trek with tasty local food and Sherpa cultural program.

January 05th: Day 11: Fly from Phaplu to Kathmandu
Today we will take a scenic flight from Phaplu back to Kathmandu that takes approximately about 30 minutes. After arriving at Kathmandu, you can relax at the Hotel or do sightseeing around Kathmandu valley before heading back to your destination.

January 06th: Day 12: Final Departure from international airport.
Our journey in Nepal comes to an end today! A Himalayan Traverse representative will drop us off at the airport approximately 3 hours before our scheduled flight. On our way to home, we have plenty of time to plan our next adventure in the wonderful country of Nepal.

The festival was incredible and the mountains are magnificent. Dorjee is a great guide and we really enjoyed staying at his Buddha lodge and meeting his wonderful family.
