Dawa Sherpa was born in 1969, July 16 in a family of famer in a place called Loding, which lies in Solukhumbu district of Nepal. Even though it was very hard even for living he completed his studies till higher secondary level in his own district. He came Kathmandu at the age of 25 in search of job. Since he was fascinated with the mountains since his childhood, he started his career as a porter and slowly till Mountaineering guide after many years of struggle. After some years of expeditions in other mountains and treks he summited Mt. Everest from North Ridge (Tibet) for the first time in 1998, May 22 and has summited Mt. Everest for 13 times till now with a recent successful summit on May 22, 2017 which was organized by Himalayan Traverse. He has also summited most of the over 8000 meters’ mountains as Dhaulagiri, Makalu, Manaslu, Amadablam, Kanchenjunga, Cho-Oyu, Shishapangma, Annapurna I, Annapurna III, Lhakpa Ri and many more with peaks for several times.
He also has set a world record as the first ever speed climber to have scaled Mt. Everest from the North Tibet base camp and descended to the South Everest Base Camp in Nepal in the year 2006. Dawa began his solo climb on May 21 at 9 pm from the Base Camp in the Tibet side, conquered the summit at 8:40 am on May 22 and reached the South Everest Base Camp at 5:15 pm the same day. This traverse world record took him just 20.15 hrs for which he received certificates and awards from the Government of Nepal.
He successfully led many teams from various countries like USA, Japan, Italy, France and other countries for various expeditions and treks. But there were also worse times in his lifetime when he couldn’t be successful in trip due to weather conditions and members’ reasons. This didn’t slow him down but gave him more experience and a reason to move on. With 30 years of experience, after learning and experiencing the mountains from so near, he started helping the mountain lovers and tourists all over the world to experience the beauty of Himalayas with the establishment of Himalayan Traverse Adventure Pvt. Ltd. He is determined to give the best services and guidance to the tourists all over the world through the company.
Apart from tourism he is also involved in social activities for supporting orphan children who lost their parent in the mountains as he believes they can also be an important person in their lives and invaluable assets for the nation.
